Tyrannized Virago

Medusa was a monster, a Gorgon, generally described as a winged human female with living venomous snakes in place of hair. Those who gazed upon her would turn to stone. Athena transformed medusa into a gorgon as poseidon was attracted to her beauty and raped her. For centuries, women are fighting for their right are compared to medusa as she was punished even though she was a victim. She was fierce and is considered as a symbol protectiveness and a guardian. For this shoot we took her as an inspiration for the modern day women who are trying to overcome the egoistic patriarchal society. We used props which represented medusa such as the snake inspired earring and a broken male mannequin as a symbol of male dominated society.
